Another two week break and we’re back - this time in Portugal. The track in Portimao has only been used in F1 once - last year in 2020 after several last-minute races were added due to the coronavirus disruption. The newness of the track makes it trickier for teams to plan strategies and predict what the weekend holds. All the more interesting for the fans at home.

This weekend’s Practice sessions failed to make anything clearer with regard which way the weekend would go. Three different drivers topped the three Practice sessions. Valterri Bottas managed to clinch his first pole position of the season, with Hamilton and Verstappen behind.

A pretty uneventful race in the end in all honesty. Hamilton and Verstappen got the jump on Bottas fairly quickly, and Hamilton ran away with the race, eventually finishing 29 seconds ahead of Verstappen in second. Another impressive performance from Lando Norris, topping the charts after you exclude the inevitable Mercedes and Red Bull drivers.
