F1 2021 - Russia

I think I am the most heartbroken for someone else than I have ever been before. Lando Norris. A brilliant young British driver who rightfully earned his first pole position in qualifying on Saturday. In today’s race, he lost the lead to his former teammate Carlos Sainz, but quickly fought back to regain first position. He lead for the vast majority of the race, only for rain to hit Sochi a mere handful of laps before the end.

This is where it fell to pieces for Norris. He was leading and a few other drivers pitted for Intermediate tyres, ones that are far better suited to wet conditions. Norris was leading and insisted that his pit crew left him to it on the dry tyres, but what his team failed to relay to him was the fact that the rain would considerably worsen, leaving his car impossible to control and ultimately lose him the race. Lewis Hamilton pitted for different tyres and eventually cruised to victory almost a full minute ahead of Max Verstappen who had fought his way up to P2 after starting at the back of the grid following an engine penalty. The Hamilton - Verstappen top two leaves the championship tight at the top, but you have to feel utterly heartbroken for Lando Norris. Hopefully, he will bounce back and continue to impress.
